5 Tips for Preventing Wind Damage

Wind can be a welcome relief from the summer heat, but it can also be very harmful and scary. Here at On-Deck Restoration LLC, we can provide you with the solutions you need to clean up and restore your home after it has been impacted by wind damage. We also want to make sure you have the knowledge you need before the storm to best protect your home against the wind:

1.    Assess your home and property for potential threats: If you know a storm is on its way, check the area around your home for problems such as loose branches, broken fences, or problems with your roof’s shingles and make any needed repairs. If you have a tree that could likely cause severe damage to your home, you may want to either cut it down or pay to have it moved.

2.    Ground appliances and large playground equipment: Barbeque grills, trampolines, slides, and patio furniture — all of these things can become dangerous in strong winds. Make sure they are tied down securely or moved inside your home or a shed.

3.    Cover and secure doors and windows: To prevent flying objects from breaking your windows or doors, secure them with sturdy boards or invest in aluminum or steel shutters.

4.    Assess your roof and garage door: Both your garage and your roof may have weak spots that you haven’t noticed. Secure any metal roofing parts and inspect your garage door. You can also seek professionals to help assess the strength of these areas if you are concerned.

Here at On-Deck Restoration LLC, we hope that you don’t have to deal with wind damage to your home or property, but when you do, we have the experience, certifications, and proper equipment needed to get your home back in shape.
